QUESTIONS?
PLEASE NOTE: THIS REFERS TO COSMETIC TATTOOS ONLY. FOR AESTHETICS FAQ, PLEASE REFER TO UPKEEP MED SPA FOR MORE INFORMATION.
IS COSMETIC TATTOOING RIGHT FOR ME?
Please keep in mind getting a cosmetic tattoo done is NOT right for you if:
you are under 18 years of age.
you are pregnant or nursing.
you are currently using or have used Accutane within the last year.
you are allergic to lidocaine.
you have difficulty healing or are prone to scarring/keloiding.
you are undergoing chemotheraphy.
you have an autoimmune disease.
you have thyroid disease (hypo/hyperthyroidism).
you have diabetes.
you have a heart condition.
you are epileptic.
your skin is very delicate, fragile, sensitive or problematic. Skin conditions such as Eczema, Psoriasis, and Rosacea that are present on the face will affect retention and longevity of the pigment.
you have unrealistic expectations for the ultimate outcome of the service.
IS COSMETIC TATTOOING PERMANENT?
Cosmetic tattooing does fade over time, thus the need for refresh appointments. The length of time varies from person to person, as genetics and external factors both play a role. Fading may lessen to where the tattoo is undetectable, but some remnants of pigment may stay in the skin.
DOES COSMETIC TATTOOING HURT?
While every person has a different tolerance for pain, cosmetic tattooing should not hurt. Topical anesthetic is applied throughout the procedure to ensure your comfort.
IS A SECOND SESSION NECESSARY?
Second sessions are highly recommended, as it provides two things:
The opportunity to assess how the skin reacted to the initial procedure.
The opportunity to make any necessary adjustments or changes requested by the client (i.e. change the lip color to deepen the hue).
PLEASE NOTE: Second and additional sessions are not included in initial session pricing. Please refer to the PRICING section for more information.
WHAT IF I HAVE PREVIOUS WORK?
All previous work must be approved prior to booking, no exceptions. A clear photo of the area (natural light, make-up) can be emailed for approval. Failure to comply will result in forfeit of booking fee.
I SEE OTHER ARTISTS CHARGING LESS FOR THE SAME SERVICE. WHY ARE YOUR SERVICES PRICED AT A HIGHER COST?
I understand the pricing is not a small number. This pricing was calculated upon several factors, leaving aside time and labor, the integrity of supplies/equipment used, it also is reflective of my months of trainings with some of the best in the country, many certifications, the over 10,000 hours of practice in the last three years, and many healed results that speak for themselves.
In addition to that, my decade-long medical background as a registered nurse has endowed me with knowledgeable of anatomy and skin that extends a greater understanding of how to work with different skin types, to provide you with an experience and result that suits you.
WHY ARE YOU NO LONGER OFFERING MICROBLADING AS A SERVICE?
My experience as a PMU artist has made me understand that this form of permanent makeup is contradicted for most skin types and in fact produces the most amount of trauma to the skin in comparison to other brow services. I find that microblading works best for clients that already have a good amount of existing brow hair, and dry healthy skin free of any skin compromises.
As an aesthetic nurse, I place skin integrity first, and to maintain proper skin integrity, I have found machine techniques to be far more gentle on the skin over time. Alternatively, I offering machine hairstrokes (nano brows) and powder brows as my brow services. More information regarding these services can be found HERE.
